Stick World - First test


I gave a link to 2 of my friends so that they could test out the movement system of the game. The test went through smoothly, but there's a couple of "small" issues going on with the prediction system (mostly due to the frame rate limit of mozilla firefox)


The bandwidth report is impressive, 3 players moving around the map only costing around 1KB/s for both upstream and downstream. Well, not sure what will happen with the likes of hudred of players online at the same time, but anyway, we won't know the result only after the stress test.


Next, I'll think I'll be working on the monster engine (spawning, random movement etc).

Stick World - Progress for January


Below are the things that I have been working over this month:-

1. Character customization (see figure above)

2. Movement engine

3. Automatic speed adjustment

4. Movement Prediction (Reduce bandwidth usage)

5. A simple registration system (Username, password and e-mail)

6. A map change engine (links between different scenes, so that it will deal with the change of sharedObject when a warp point is reached)

Stick World - Basic Weapons artwork

I spent about 12 hours working on the graphics of the menu, loading page and some basic weapons. Here are some of the results!


Stick world - Project started!

Begin of the stick world
I have just begin to work on this very huge multiplayer flash project called: The Stick World.
The genre of the game, however, is not yet decided (it can Either be a massive multiplayer online role playing game, or a room based online game)


Room based
Well, you must have heard of MMORPG, now, what about room based?
The idea is that to seperate players into different room (each room represents a world with it's own standalone NPC, monsters, quests etc), and limit the number of players in a room.


Character customization
The Appeareance (An avatar of your character) is very much customizable. Choose your color, type, size, distance etc of your eyes, nose, mouth, head shape and hair style. Be unique!


Chracter status
Strength - Affects your overall physical damage, and abilitiy to carry more items.
Agility - Affects your range attack damage, critical rate, hit rate and dodge rate.
Vitality - Affects your defend, maximum health points and health recovering rate.
Inteligence - Affects your magic damage
Will Power - Affects your maximum mana points, magic resistance and mana recovering rate.


Major skills
Skills in The stick world does not have a job limit, this means that, you can choose to learn your own combination of skills. There are 11 different genre of skills to choose from, each genre with 2 different categories, each category with 5 different skills.
